WHY OUR AUTO REPAIR CUSTOMERS STAY WITH US

Great local specialty automotive shop, the guys have a high level of knowledge for foreign automobiles and have done beautiful work for me several times. Reasonable money for honest, high quality work. I trust them with my vehicles and you should too. If you have a car you care about I would have these guys servicing it. Don't make the mistake of taking your specialty automobile anywhere else.

The only place that touches my Audi. Vinny and the staff are awesome. Very honest and reasonable people. As long as I own a German vehicle, they will always be my spot for maintenance and other procedures. I highly recommend!

Vinny and crew are the best. Great service and honest pricing, never an upsell, if he says you need the work done you need the work done. He did work on my Ford Five Hundred, $200 for labor and parts....Ford Dealer in Berlin CT gave me quote for over $1,500 to do what Vinny did plus all the other upsell repairs that they said was needed.

WHAT PARTS OF MY DRIvetrain MAY NEED REPAIR?

A Full Drivetrain System Inspection

To locate any specific problem or as a full routine checkup, our certified mechanics will check the following components of your drivetrain system:

Transmission:

The transmission is a complex system, but it works under the same principle as the rest of the drivetrain: transmitting engine power through a relay of shafts and gears that connect and disconnect alternatively to make the driveshaft—and so, the wheels—rotate faster or slower.

Clutch:

The clutch works like a gate that connects and disconnects the feeding of engine power to the transmission and the rest of the drivetrain. When you press the clutch pedal, the clutch disconnects from the engine’s flywheel, preventing engine power from being fed to the transmission. This slows down the transmission’s input shaft which allows the gear change to occur.

Differential:

The differential is a gear coupling designed to change the angle of the spinning movement that comes from the driveshaft and to distribute its power to the wheels while adapting to their movements and rotation. This gives more flexibility to each wheel to move at different speeds and angles while turning, which reduces tire wear and gives more stability to the car.

Axle Shaft:

The axle shaft connects the differential to each wheel mounting. After the entire drivetrain has converted the engine’s power and adjusted it for adequate wheel spinning, the axle shaft transmits this movement to the wheels.

Driveshaft:

The driveshaft is connected to the output shaft of the transmission. So, it spins at the rate determined by the gears inside the transmission, and transmits that power to the differential.

Joints:

The bumps on the road and the need to rotate the wheels while cornering means the wheels need to be free to move at the same time they keep receiving engine power.

CV (Constant velocity) and universal joints connect the wheels to the axle shaft in a way that gives the wheels freedom of movement.

Transfer Case:

4WD can turn  on and off the power transfer to one of the two pairs of wheels through the Transfer Case. A transfer case is another set of gears that split the distribution of power in two different directions (to the front and rear wheels). Most transfer cases have two setups that allow them to change the car from 4WD and 2WD mode, and vice versa.

Mode Selector:

In 4WD cars, the mode selector is a lever, or in modern systems, a button or a menu option on the screen that lets the driver turn on or off the energy transfer to the rear or front wheels. When the driver changes the mode, the selector lever or mechanical actuator connects or disconnects the gear coupling that distributes rotational energy to the secondary pair of wheels.
